
Alex Komakech’s penalty goal against LT St. Basile ensured eleven time champions St. Mary’s Kitende go through to the quarter finals of the ongoing East Africa secondary school games as Group A winners with seven points.
Komakech converted after Nordin Bunjo had been thought down BT the Burundians defense in his attempt to shoot inside the box.
The Ugandans topped the group A thanks to a better goal difference over Kenya’s Bukembe. The two squared in a 1-1 draw on Monday.
Bukembe also recorded their second win on Wednesday defeating Gisenyi College 2-1.
In the other matches played, Kibuli SS lost to Barding finishing the group without a single win though qualified for quarters. Masaka also lost to Passenga (Kenya) with the same margin.
Girls.
Ugandan teams produced another dismal result with all the three teams bowing out of the games from the group stages.
Masaka SS girls team were held to a one all draw by Kenya’s St. Johns’ Kaloleni as local champions Kawempe Muslim lost 2-1 to Wiyeta.
