News coming in from Iceland indicates that former Uganda Cranes goalie Abel Dhaira’s health is deteriorating and that the player is now in critical condition.

“Abel (Dhaira) condition is not good at all. He is failing to eat and on top of that is on oxygen support,” a close member of the family who preferred anonymity concealed the information to Chimp Sport.

“The family, friends and well wishers have set Good Friday to pray for him (Abel Dhaira) at his father’s residence in Walukuba-Jinja,” our source confirmed.

Abel Dhaira is son of former Uganda Cranes goal keeper Bright Dhaira who is currently an assistant coach in Bul Football Club. He is currently contracted to play for Iceland club,  IBV Vestmannaeyjar.

The lanky custodian last played for IBV in October 2015 where he started complaining of stomach ache.

He later requested the club for a sick leave before returning home. The keeper’s health did not improve prompting his family to admit him at Nsambya Hospital in January. He was later flown back to Iceland where his club offered to help him.

Doctors in Iceland confirmed that he was diagnosed with cancer and immediately commenced medical care.

He has previously featured for Express Fc, URA Fc Simba in Tanzania, and two stints at IBV.
