The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Emmanuel K. Gasana has challenged the recently commissioned cadet officers to be catalysts in policing professionalism which he said that it requires ‘performance to the best of their expectation’ while executing their duties.
The Police Chief made the remarks on Monday at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru while briefing the 405 cadet officers of the 8th intake, who were commissioned early this month to the rank of Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP).
“Uphold and be guided by the RNP values at all times. Rwandans expect you to perfect your policing roles and that requires understanding and learning more on the policing landscape to inform your exceptional performance,” said IGP Gasana.
The final briefing for the junior officers ahead of taking up their duties in their varied deployments was also attended by Commissioners and other senior officers.
“Align the skills and the knowledge you acquired, with Rwanda’s vision. Discipline is a key determinant in everything we do as Police officers, which should define your character at all times as well,” he added, challenging them to avoid any involvement in malpractices which affect their credibility and that of the entire institution in general.
How they behave, he noted, shapes the public opinion towards RNP and appealed to them to preserve and continue to strive for the positive image of the force through professional performance.
