Police in Mbarara has in its custody a 21 year old man alleged to have defiled a 12 year pupil of his.
The suspect has been named as Wycliffe Otunga, a student teacher at Mother Care Parent’s school in Nyabikungu cell, Rugando sub-county, Mbarara district.
Otunga, who is also a student of Kakoba Institute Rutagarama in Mbarara town was arrested on Wednesday for defiling a 12 year pupil.
According to the parent of the victim Nicolas Namanya, the suspect defiled the girl on Sunday evening when she had gone for coaching and after he escorted her back home.
However the girl started crying after the teacher left her with parents and when she was asked, she told the parents of what had befallen her.
The parents immediately alerted Rugando police and Ontuga was arrested.
The OC-CID Mbarara Taban Chiriga confirmed the arrest saying that Wycliffe will be taken to court and charged with aggravated defilement which attracts death sentence.
