President Yoweri Museveni has left the country for Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa for the next Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Summit.
There he will be joining regional leaders for further talks on stabilizing the troubled Republic of South Sudan.
Fresh fighting erupted in Juba early last month between forces loyal to President Salva Kiir and his then First Vice President Riek Machar, threatening to take South Sudan back to civil war.
The renewed hostilities undermined a peace deal signed last August between parties involved in the conflict.
At the Summit this weekend, Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir will deliver a letter to the regional leaders to discuss updates on the events of South Sudan
Khartoum hosted this weekend Surveillance Commission initiative and evaluation of the peace agreement by the South Sudan Joint Monitoring Evolution Commission (JMEC).
Museveni departed at Entebbe International Airport and was seen off by his Vice Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi
