Police in Mbarara has arrested a group of bodaboda riders who allegedly killed a teacher of Bugamba SS in Mbarara district.
On July 6th at around 8; 00pm while Stuart Muhumuza, an English teacher at Bugamba SS was heading to school for evening classes, he was surrounded by a group of bodaboda riders accusing him of stealing one of their colleagues’ motorcycle.
Without ascertaining the identity of the person, police says the group immediately became very violent and beat him up, leaving him lying helpless on the road.
Police arrived at the scene to find none of the attackers and rushed Stuart to Mayanja Hospital where he died on arrival.
In the hunt for the suspects, police rounded up an entire stage of cyclists on July 17th who are now held at Mbarara Police Station.
OCCID Taban Chiriga confirmed that 9 men are in custody and the hunt is still on to find everyone else who was involved in the murder.
The case is registered at Mbarara police station under CRB/1731/2016.
