Church Condemns Attack on Gulu Police

Bishop of Northern Uganda archdiocese, Johnson Kakumba has sternly condemned the act of attack on Gulu’s main police station in Gulu, in which two security officers lost their lives.

On Tuesday evening, the body ASP Moses Masaba who yesterday succumbed to gunshot injuries was prayed for at Christ the King Church in Gulu town.

Presiding over the requiem mass Bishop Kakumba said that such incidents were likely to drag the area which has enjoyed a number of years of serenity, back to anarchy.

Masaba was the Regional Officer (RO) in charge of Fire and Rescue Activities for Aswa Region Headquarters at Gulu District.

Born in 1985 to Stephen Wanyangala and Ms. Monica Wanyangala, Masaba had a Social Sciences Degree from Makerere University and was at the time of his death working as Regional Officer (RO) in charge of Fire and Rescue Activities for Aswa Region Headquarters at Gulu District.

His demise came a few weeks after he traditionally introduced his fiancé.

Speaking at the requiem, Wilson Kwanya, the regional police commander said the deceased was shot severally in the chest, and in the stomach and that he over bled.

The RPC described Masaba as a hard working and dedicated person who will be greatly missed.

So far, five people including the driver of the blue pickup track Registration number UAF 350Q which brought the attackers, are in police custody.

Masaba will be laid to rest tomorrow 15th June 2016 at Bungokho Village, Bungokho Sub County in Mbale District, 5km along Mbale-Tororo Road.
