President Yoweri Museveni’s special assistant on Diaspora Affairs Mrs. Florence Kiremerwa over the weekend narrowly survived a nasty road accident.
Mrs. Kiremerwa escaped with broken legs and severe injuries on the stomach when her car, a Toyota Mark X Registration Number UAY 764 overturned as she travelled from Hoima to Kampala.
The Presidential assistant was among the State House team that accompanied President Museveni to Hoima for annual coronation (Empango) celebrations last Saturday.
The accident was caused by another vehicle which was trying to overtake her, while another truck approach from the different direction. In trying to avoid the the head on collision, the overtaking vehicle squeezed Kiremerwa off the road.
According to witnesses, Kiremerwa was first returned to Hoima Hospital before being transferred to Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
At the Hoima Hospital, a one Andrew Irumba narrates, there was drama as relatives and friends of the causality were informed that the only available ambulance had broken down months ago. A private ambulance had to be hired by the family to transfer the patient to Kampala.
At Nakasero Hospital, Chimpreports understands Kiremerwa was able to regain her consciousness and is steadily improving.
She was yesterday visited by the Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi who promised to brief the President about her condition.
