The former Attorney General, Fred Ruhindi who was dropped in Monday’s unveiled cabinet has said he is at peace and grateful for his past achievements and not downhearted by his release.
Ruhindi, who joined Cabinet in 2006 as State Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, was among the 35 ministers who were dropped by President Yoweri Museveni.
“I look back with a lot of gratitude on what I have achieved for the country,’ he told Chimpreports on Tuesday. I have served the nation with my best energy and competence and I am grateful for it.
Ruhindi also lost his Nakawa seat in the last parliamentary elections to the Forum for Democratic Change’s Michael Kabaiziruka. He had held the seat since 2001.
He nevertheless appreciated the people of Nakawa for entrusting him with the constituency seat for 3 terms.
“I so much appreciate the people of Nakawa for electing me to Parliament 3 times consecutively. I am grateful for their trust,” he added.
“The people I worked with in government will always have a special position in my heart. All my achievements are because of their complimentary efforts.”
Ruhindi served in other government positions before joining Parliament and taking political assignments
For eleven years, between 1981 until 1992, Fred Ruhindi worked as a State Attorney in the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
He was then transferred to the Uganda Investment Authority, where he served as Corporation Secretary, from 1992 until 1999.
Ruhindi entered politics in 2001 and was elected to parliament to represent Nakawa Division, Kampala District. He was re-elected in 2006 and 2011.
He has served as State Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs since 2006. From June 2006 until February 2015, he also served as the Deputy Attorney General of Uganda.
In the cabinet reshuffle of 1st March 2015, he was appointed the Attorney General of Uganda until yesterday when he was replaced with advocate Byaruhanga William.
