
Kent Foundation Training Institute in Kakyenkye, Kyamugorani in Mbarara Municipality was yesterday gutted by fire in the afternoon.
The institute which was started by Bishop Emeritus Yoram Bamunoba and has been in operation for over 25years lost property worth millions after broke out and spread to a number of its structures.
The flames which are believed to have started from the kitchen, spread fast and destroyed 5 buildings.
The Institute’s Academic Registrar Simon Baruga said the fire burnt ovens, beds, utensils and other practical materials in the school before spreading to the other buildings.
Luckily no student was harmed by the fire.
The school mostly trains nursery school teachers, but has other courses in technical, business and education disciplines.
Police’s Fire Brigade arrived in time to save the other buildings from the flames.
The Mbarara District Police Commander Jaffar Magezi urged all the institutions to always prepare for such incidents by having enough fire extinguishers.
