Jailed Forum for Democratic Change politician Col Dr Kizza Besigye is coping well with the conditions at Luzira Prison.
This is according to his Wife Mrs. Winnie Banyima who went to check on him on Thursday afternoon.
Byanyima says hundreds of people are flocking the country’s biggest penitentiary to check on the former Presidential Candidate who is facing Treason Charges.
The head of Oxfam International says her husband is in good health and expects no preferential treatment.
“He is in the cell with two others. They cook their own food and eat together. He wears a yellow prisoner uniform but is strong physically and in will,” she said.
On Wednesday while appearing before the Nakawa Magistrates Court where the treason charges were reread for him, Besigye said that his prosecution and detention was all part of government’s ill intention, that may include harming him.
Today he reportedly told his wife that the notorious men in masks followed him to Moroto Prison where he was initially remanded after being charged with treason last week.
“He is also concerned about the Judiciary which is acting in collusion with police to persecute him and he was dragged to court without lawyers and outside official hour,” said Byanyima.
She however express confidence that her husband will prove his innocence if court acts justly but Judiciary is colluding with lawless Uganda Police Force to persecute him.
