Two citizens have rushed to the High Court seeking postponement of the swearing in of President Yoweri Museveni, pending scientific determination of his actual age.

Museveni’s swearing in ceremony is slated for next week May 12th, and according to government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo, so far 12 heads of state have confirmed attendance.

Moses Bigirwa and Hakkim Kizza however, today rushed to the Kampala High Court seeking that the swearing in ceremony is stayed a tad longer.

This they said, is to allow time to ascertain whether or not President, who was handed the fifth term in office last February, has not exceeded the constitutional 75 years of age.

Museveni’s age for years was at the center of a protracted debate as he claimed that he was not aware of when he was born.

However, a few years ago he came out and clarified that he was born in 1944, and his official birth date has since been placed at September 15th.

In their application which is slated to be heard by the High Court soon, the duo want Museveni’s inauguration to be stayed “until the respondent (Museveni) is subjected to medical and scientific examination to calculate his structural bones so as to cast away any doubt about his age.”
