Residents of Kakoba, Mbarara this morning stormed the house of Ssengabi Waswa a police crime preventer and set it ablaze accusing him of taking part in the murder of one of their own, last week.
Francis Twesigomwe, a resident of Kakoba was reportedly stoned by two crime preventers and a police officer on Friday, and he drowned in R. Rwizi as he was trying to flee from them.
The locals were angered that police did not help them find the body, which they discovered floating early this morning.
Residents and relatives of the deceased vowed to seek revenge
These quickly organized and descended on Sengabi’s home and set it on fire before police rushed in to put it out.
Sengabi is currently being held together with his co accused at Mbarara Central Police Station.
Francis’s body was taken to Mbarara referral hospital for postmortem.
Relatives of the deceased from Kabale district told Chimpreports that they will camp in the area until they kill Sengabi to avenge his actions.
Mbarara DPC Jaffar Magyezi who rushed back to the area warned the people to stop taking the law into their hands.
The police boss was for a while involved in a bitter exchange with the angry residents and he was forced to drive away when they started charging at him.
