The Inspector General of Police Gen. Kayihura on Tuesday carried out an impromptu operation in and around the slum areas of Kampala where he arrested over 20 suspected members of the notorious Kifeesi gang.
The operation followed a tip off on Tuesday morning by this reporter, about the infamous criminal gang that terrorized motorists along Entebbe Road on Monday.
The police boss embarked on a 4 hour operation with city police commanders around the black spots in the areas of Nsambya, Katwe and Makindye.
During the operation which Kayihura personally commanded, more than 20 members of the criminal gang Kifeesi were arrested from their hideouts.
The police chief praised Chimpreports on this website for helping the law and order enforcers combat the problem of criminals.
Part of good journalism he said, should be to avail such important information to police authorizes to hunt down the criminals.
He noted that since last year the force had launched a number of operations against the criminal gangs but said more groups are emerging.
“There are police units around these areas but it seems the problem is just escalating. It is now time we to start smoking them out their hideouts .”
