Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed the game between Cape Verde and Uganda to Sunday, 11th June 2017.

The 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier initially supposed to be played on Saturday, has been pushed to the following day after delays in flights for Uganda,

The Uganda Cranes got stranded in Senegal’s capital Dakar and thus they could not reach in time for the game.

Reliable sources indicated this was a planned move to have the cranes arrive for the game fatigued due to jet lag.

“They have done this to most of the visiting teams. Because it is a difficult place to reach, they use this as an opportunity to frustrate opponents,” said the source who preferred anonymity.

Uganda traveled in bunches with the first contingent of 7 players arriving in Praia on Friday evening. The second bunch was supposed to connect to the island nation early on match day but due to delays, they only arrived in Cape Verde just minutes away to scheduled kickoff time.

CAF thus has decided the game will be played on Sunday at Estadio de Verzei. Uganda is in group L alongside Tanzania, Lesotho and Cape Verde
