
Family members have opened up on the passing of former Member of Parliament of Ibanda South Deo K Rwabiita, who breathed his last in Kampala last night.
Brother to the deceased Francis Gratian told Chimpreports at their home in Kyaruhimbi, Bufunda Division in Ibanda Municipality that Rwabita succumbed to diabetes which he had battled for years.
Rwabita, who also served in a number of ambassadorial positions before quitting politics in the early 2000s, passed on at Kirudu Hospital in Kampala Wednesday night.
The brother says he had been bed ridden at his house in Ggaba, where doctors often visited him, before he was admitted when the situation worsened.
Mr Gratian described his departed brother as a person of great determination since childhood, and one that made a lot of accomplishments.
Burial arrangements, he said, are still being discussed.
Rwabiita died at the age of 74 he and left behind his wife Connie Rwabita with whom he produced 5 children.
Ambassador Mugoya, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs also told us in a short message about the distinct work of the deceased.
“The Diplomatic Service of Uganda is a very small community both of former and serving Officers. Amb. Rwabita was an important part of that Community who served his country with distinction,” he said.
“We offer our deepest condolences to his family.”
David Bigira, the Ibanda district councillor for elders termed Rwabita as developmental and passionate about educating young people, recalling that he was paying school fees for many youngsters, some of them attending foreign schools.
