Road users along Kampala-Jinja Highway will have to use alternative routes as Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) begins surface improvement of a spot between Namanve and Bweyogerere.

According to a statement by UNRA, on Friday June 9, there will be heavy works at Kazinga, a section adjacent to Darling factory and Crestank Limited, involving installation of culverts.

“Works will involve cutting the entire width of the road which may cause delays and inconvenience to the flow of traffic,” reads in part the statement.

UNRA, on a good side, notes that “works are expected to be completed and route restored to traffic by evening.”

For light cars (weighing less than 5 tonnes), traffic will be limited to one lane, while medium and heavy vehicles have been assigned alternative routes.

Traffic coming from Jinja to Kampala will turn immediately after leaving the Coca-Cola plant through Namanve industrial park to Namboole – Jokas Hotel and proceed to Kampala.

Traffic from Kampala to Jinja will turn right at Jokas – Namboole through the Namanve industrial park to Coca-Cola plant.

Alternatively, drivers can use the Seeta-Namugongo to Kireka/Nothern Bypass.
