Kampala Capital City Football Club (KCCA FC) moved closer to reaching this year’s Uganda Cup final after edging past Express FC.

In the game played at Philip Omondi stadium on Friday, KCCA FC won the close contest 3-2.

Geoffrey Serunkuuma scored a brace while on form midfielder Tom Masiko scored the other to help KCCA FC win the first leg.

Simon Serunkuuma and Allan Kyambadde scored for the visitors but the goals only settled for consolations.

KCCA FC began the better side creating several chances but it took Masiko’s brilliance to put the home side ahead with a superb free kick in the 37th minute.

The crafty midfielder stepped up from about 20 yards to curl the ball beyond goalkeeper Emma Opio’s reach.

The second half produced a different ball game with Express stepping up play to march KCCA FC in terms of ability.

Geoffrey Serunkuuma doubled the lead from the spot kick after a foul on Tom Masiko inside the area and the former did no mistake to convert three minutes after recess.

However, Express halved the deficit through Simon Serunkuuma who slotted past onrushing goalkeeper Douglas Kisembo.

The hopes for the comeback were squashed immediately with Serunkuuma scoring on the other end two minutes later.

Allan Kyambadde scored the other goal for Express but was not enough to get them at least a point.

The two sides meet for the return leg next week on Tuesday at Wankulukuku with the winner going into the final slated for 10th June at Greenlight stadium in Arua district.
