The quarterfinal games at the ongoing National post primary school tournament produced both joy and agony.

Right from the opening quarterfinal clash between Masaka SS and Kibuli to Nakaseke International taking on Jinja Progressive Academy, the battle to book a berth in the semis proved a tough one.

Defending champions Kibuli SS edged past hosts Masaka SS in a closely contested game that stopped at one time with police firing a bullet to calm the situation.

Kibuli SS who had taken the lead through Adam Musisi conceded a penalty that was converted by Jacob Okua.

Trouble erupted when Kibuli SS rounded up referee Ashraf Miiro contesting the penalty that had been already taken.

Police intervened and the referee sent off Fred Tabu and Adam Musisi. Kibuli played the rest of the game with 9 men and managed to win the penalty shootout 3-1.

In the second quarterfinal, Jinja SS eased past Citizen High school from Isingiro outwitting them 5-1.

Joel Madondo was the star of the day scoring a hat trick before Ivan Wani and Sajjabi Ibrahim scored a goal apiece to complete the rout.

Makweth Wol pulled one back for Citizen as they crushed out terribly.

The third game saw 8 time winners St. Mary’s Kitende take on tricky Dynamic SS Ssonde.

Like expected the clash was tightly contested and the game had to be decided on penalties after a barren draw in normal time.

The shootout was also dramatic St. Mary’s Kitende held on to win the tense penalty session 4-3 to advance to the semis.

Nakaseke International joined the trio by edging past Jinja Progressive Academy(JIPRA) 2-0 in the final quarterfinal game of the day.
