Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital is once again reeling in negative light after another toddler disappeared at the facility.

Yesterday, an unknown woman entered the hospital’s Toto (Children’s) Ward, and stole a two year old baby girl.

Doctors and officials at the regional hospital declined all requests for comments from reporters.

The mother of the child Mrs. Kulusumu Mulyala rushed to Mbarara Police station where she reported the matter.

Mr. Ibrahim Suleiman, the father of the toddler while speaking to Chimpreports at the police station, revealed that his daughter was being treated of measles having been admitted on Friday last week.

He was however shocked to get a call from his wife that the girl had disappeared at the hospital.

Mariam told police that on Thursday at round 8AM, an innocent looking woman entered in the ward and started conversing with the mothers.

She says that when she stepped out to get food, she came back to find that the woman had disappeared with her child who she left seated on the bed.

The family resides in Ruharo Kamukuzi division Mbarara Municipality but is from Mbale district. Sulaiman is a teacher at Ruharo Muslim primary school.

Patients in the hospital blamed the hospital’s lapses in its security, saying that the number of children disappearing from there was becoming unacceptably alarming.

One Dr. Eriokot who is in charge of the ward when reached by reporters ordered them to get out of the hospital.

The Mbarara police spokesperson Vincent Ssekate said that police has registered most child stealing cases from the hospital and warned the officials to fill the security gaps there is.

The facility is installed with CCTV cameras which however, do not cover the children’s section.
