Uganda Premier League
Express FC 0-1 KCCA FC

Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) edged closer to defending the league title with a slim victory against city rivals Express FC.

It required a moment of brilliance from midfielder Paul Mucureezi late into the game for the Lugogo based side to earn their first victory in five games.

Coming into the game at Mutessa II stadium on Friday, Express seemed the better side with a 7 unbeaten run.

On the other end, KCCA FC came in a low note with a slump in the previous 5 games including a loss to vipers on Tuesday.

The two sides played a cautious game and there was nothing to write home for the better part of the game as the two sides seemed blunt.

With the game destined for a stalemate, Paul Mucureezi produced a moment of brilliance breaking the deadlock in the 84th minute.

The midfielder received a well laid pass from Derrick Nsibambi and his ferocious effort just outside the area flew past goalkeeper Emmanuel Opio.

Daniel Otto had a chance to level matters in added time but he was too slow to tap home with Isaac Muleme making a timely clearance.

The result means KCCA FC move to 51 points, two above second placed SC Villa who drew 2-2 with Police FC in Masaka.
