University Football League
KU 0-1 YMCA
Newcomers Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) Comprehensive Institute caused the biggest shock of this season as they defeated defending champions Kampala University in the University Football League.
Playing in their maiden season, YMCA did not grow feet of clay against two time UFL winners, Kampala University defeating them 1-0 in their own backyard.
Ochom Arafat scored the lone goal of the game played on Wednesday at Villa park, Nsambya to condemn KU to their first loss this season.
A defence mix up in the Kampala University defence saw goalkeeper Charles Opoka fail to clear the ball out of danger and Ochom used the lapse to tap home.
Despite several attempts to at least salvage a point by KU, the visitors remained resilient to record their first win in the league.
The result means Kampala University end the first round on 6 points from three games in group C,while YMCA move to second on 5 points above Bugema University and Gulu University.
Action continues in group C on Saturday with Kumi University hosting last year’s finalists Nkumba University
