Journalists were on Wednesday stopped from covering the handshake investigation at State House Entebbe where Members of Parliament went to extract statements from President Yoweri Museveni.
On Tuesday evening Abdu Katuntu, the chairperson of parliamentary committee on Commissions, Statutory Authority and State Enterprises sent the list of journalists covering Parliament to State House for approval and it was indeed accepted.
However today officials at State House changed their earlier position and decided to keep reporters out of the probe hall.
“We are sorry to inform you that the arrangement has been changed and journalists are not allowed t attend,” one of the State House officials said at the gate.
MPs proceeded to the venue while reporters were shown the way back to Kampala.
Museveni is the last witness to be interviewed by the parliamentary committee that started investigating the infamous Shs 6bn handshake in January this year.
The President wrote a letter to the Finance minister allowing him to release the money that was shared between 42 government officials for their role in the tax arbitration battle between Uganda and Heritage Oil and Gas Company.
