Uganda Premier League: KCCA FC 1 – 2 Vipers

Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) home unbeaten run has been brought to an end in a thrilling encounter played at Phillip Omondi Stadium on Tuesday.

Vipers came from a goal behind to put up a resuscitated performance in the second half to defeat KCCA FC and blow the title race wide.

Geoffrey Sserunkuma gave KCCA FC the lead but the visitors rallied back, with Tony Odur and Geoffrey Wasswa scoring in the second half.

Sserunkuma broke the deadlock at the quarter hour mark converting from the spot kick after Wadada handled the ball in the forbidden area.

The sharp shooter stepped up to send goalkeeper Ismail Watenga the wrong way and take his tally to 18 goals this season.

KCCA FC manager Mike Mutebi withdrew Tom Masiko and replaced him with Paul Mucureezi just 23 into the game.

However, Vipers staged up a comeback to score two goals after recess, first through former KCCA FC forward Tony Odur.

Clumsy defending from defender Timothy Awany saw him lose possession to Odur who planted the ball past goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan to level matter in the 64th minute.

Six minutes later, the visitors took the lead through defender, Geoffrey Wasswa, who was unmarked inside the box and got the time to find the target for his first goal in the Viper’s Jersey.

Despite several attempts by KCCA FC to level matters, Vipers held on; including Ismael Watenga making saves deep into added time.
