Almost 3 weeks after the gruesome murder of their own director of human resource and development who also doubled as their spokesperson, Police are still silent about investigations into the murder of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
On March 17, unknown assailants shot dead Kaweesi as he left his home in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb together with his body guard Kenneth Erau and driver Godfrey Mambewa.
Speaking at the scene of crime, the Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura said the death was a huge blow to the force and that he would fight tooth and nail to see that the perpetrators of the gruesome murder are arrested.
ChimpReports learnt that the top security agencies including police, Chieftaincy of Military Investigations and ISO joined the search for the killers.
However, 3 weeks later, no official comment has been made public in relation to the process of investigations into the matter of the senior police officer.
When asked about the matter on Monday, the police spokesperson AIGP Asan Kasingye assured journalists that with time, the force will let loose the cat about the investigations into the murder of their own officer.
“We might jeopardize investigations .It is better we hold on a little bit,” Kasingye told journalists.
“I will call a special press conference and tell you what has so far been done and I think that is the right way to do it.”
Asked on the number of suspects already in police custody, Kasingye said all information regarding the investigations would be given to the public at a specific time when it is ready.
However, this website understands that a number of suspects including a former soldier with the elite Special Forces Command and others apprehended at the DRC border are in police custody but this information cannot be verified by now as the police mouthpiece said he could not comment on anything in relation to the investigations.
