Soana vs KCCA FC

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club return to league action for the first time after three weeks.

The last time that the defending champions played in the league was on 3rd March 2017 where they won 1-0 against the Saints in Mwererwe.

Following exit from the Total CAF champions league at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns and departure of left back Joseph Ochaya, KCCA FC set sights to league action.

Ochaya officially left the Lugogo based club to join Lusaka Dynamos in the Zambian premier league last week and assistant manager Morley Byekwaso believes the club is ready to move on and fill the void left behind.

“Ochaya has been one of the best players on the team and the entire league but we only wish him well in his new club,” he said.

“However, I believe we have good replacements for him with youngster Kiiza Mustapha, Isaac Muleme while Habib Kavuma can also be shifted to that position, so we are not worried,” Byekwaso noted.

Skipper Dennis Okot also coincides with Byekwaso and believes they should move on as a team because he thinks the other players available can ably replace Ochaya.

“He(Ochaya) is gone so we just move on and make sure we remain strong because the other players have almost similar abilities,” Okot said.

KCCA FC take on struggling Soana FC this Tuesday at Kavumba Recreation Centre with the aim of returning to the summit of the league.

Maximum points against Soana will see KCCA ascend to the top of the table at least on goal difference with 44 points.

Soana on the other hand have struggled since the start of the second round failing to win any game in the league which resulted to the sacking of coach George Lutaalo and was replaced by Alex Isabirye.

The first leg meeting at Phillip Omondi stadium ended in a 2-0 win for KCCA FC with Joseph Ochaya (penalty) and Mutyaba Muzamir scoring while Soana’s Minsi Katende was sent off.
