Vipers Go Into Return Leg Against Platinum Stars With Belief

Uganda’s representatives in the CAF confederation cup, Vipers Sports Club seek to continue their exploits in the in the competition by eliminating South Africa’s Platinum stars.

Vipers carry a slim 1-0 victory from last week and aim to finish business this Saturday away at the Royal Bafokerg stadium in Rustenberg.

New Viper’s head coach Jorge Miguel Da Costa confides belief and he is confident his team will advance to the next stage.

“I’m a winner and I always want to keep winning so we are carrying the same mentality to South Africa for the return leg,” he said before the team departed for South Africa on Friday.

Asked whether he was aware of the poor performance of Ugandan clubs, the Portuguese tactician said he doesn’t bother about the history.

“I do not want to look at the poor records, all we want is to go there and earn a result that will help us advance,” said Miguel.

Milton Kalisa who scored the lone goal in the first leg also re- echoed the coach’s belief stating they are ready for the challenge.

“We have had our preparations and ready to face Platinum stars. The fact that we won against them here means we can also get victory at their home,” said the diminutive forward.

With the return of Erisa Ssekisambu and Brian Nkuubi who limped off in the first leg, Costa believes he has a full squad capable to eliminate Platinum stars.

Dikwena’s coach Cavin Johnson put the blame of the loss in the first leg on the playing surface he labelled “poor” and indicated they will play much better in the return leg.

“The result was influenced by the poor pitch and the referees but I think we had a good game and we can build on that in the return leg,” he said after the 1-0 loss in the first leg.

The winner on aggregate advances to the second round phase.
