The 26th witness in the case where former Tablique leader Sheikh Yunus Kamoga and 13 other Muslim clerics are charged with terrorism and murdering of fellow Muslim sheikhs, has informed court that he was the one who translated the information on the flyers that indicated the
name of sheikhs referred to as the enemies of Islam.
This witness, an employee at Uganda Broadcasting Cooperation (UBC) testified today before the three justices of International Crimes Court, revealing that in July 2016 he received two flyers from
his boss Florence Rugadya who asked him to translate the information on them.
“One of them which was marked Exhibit U had the words ‘Enough is enough, enough is enough’ with a heading “The people behind the killings of sheikhs and the divisionism in Islam.”
The witness revealed that Prince Kassim Nakibinge was the first person on the list and he was referred to as a worst leader who is facilitating the arresting of Muslim leaders. The second person was Sheikh Hassan Kirya whom they accused of spying on, killing and abducting of Muslims in the country.
The third person on the list was Sheikh Muhamood Kibaate whom they accused of embezzling money from Namagoma School, and Sheikh Haruna Jemba who was accused of grabbing Kabiga land to build a school.
On top of this, the authors of the documents cautioned Muslims against dealing with the listed people.
During the session, Defense lawyers led by Mac Dusman Kabega complained about the quality of the translation, which was however dismissed by lead judge in this matter Ezikiel Muhanguzi as wastage of court’s time.
The three Judges Percy Tuhaise, Ezikiel Muhanguzi and Jane Kiggundu adjourned the hearing of the matter to tomorrow Wednesday when three more prosecution witnesses are expected to testify.
