Standard Liege sends Farouk Miya on loan to struggling side

Belgian Pro League giants Standard Liege have agreed a loan move with Royal Excel Mouscron for Ugandan forward Farouk Miya.

Miya has struggled to get playing time at the club where he has made only one appearance in the league and another in the supercup since signing a permanent deal last year.

“Standard de Liège, Royal Excel Mouscron and Farouk MIYA have reached an agreement,” the club announced in an official statement on Tuesday in a deadline day transfer.

“Our young Ugandan attacking midfielder will be loaned to the Belgian club till the end of the season without a buy-out clause,” the statement further clarifies.

Miya joined The Reds on Thursday 21st January 2016 in a six month loan move from Ugandan side Vipers SC before earning a permanent two year deal on June 30th last year.

Royal Excel Mouscron is a team that plays in the Belgian First Division A. They gained promotion from the Belgian Second Division after successful play-offs in the 2013–14 season.

The team is currently lying bottom of the 16 team league with only 18 points from 24 outings. He leaves Liege on the 9th place with 33 points.
