Bishop of the Kigezi Diocese Rt. Rev. George Bagamuhunda on Wednesday celebrated his 3rd anniversary as Bishop by holding a mass wedding.
Bagamuhunda held the function on Wednesday at St. Peters Cathedral Rugarama, where he noted that many people had failed to formalize their marriages due to lack of resources, which he said is unnecessary.
“Parties have made it difficult for Christians to hold church weddings because they fear expenses,” said Bishop Bagamuhunda.
The bishop, who has overseen over 200weddings, said people should be discouraged from living in sinful marriages.
He said that the Diocese this year intends to wed 500 couples under the mass wedding arrangement.
“I personally, when I was marrying my wife 30 years ago, our wedding was very simple. We held a small reception at a primary school and our guests were served with pop corn and Bushera,” said the Bishop.
At the event, Bishop Bagamuhunda asked the newlyweds to abide by the vows they made, to be able to reap the benefits of the Christian founded marriages.
At the same function, he confirmed 111 people into the Anglican faith.
Bishop Bagamuhunda was ordained the fifth bishop of Diocese of Kigezi on 19th January 2014 replacing Bishop George Katwesigye.
