URA football club’s hopes of retaining the Mapinduzi cup were crushed after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Taifa ya Jangombe FC on Sunday evening.

Mohammed Said grabbed the priceless goal for the Zanzibar side in the second period of the game that followed a fruitless first half.

The tax collectors end the tournament on fourth place with only four points from four games.

Simba and Jangombe boys top the group and thus advance to the knockout phase.

Coach Kefa Kisaala gave playtime to his third choice goalie Allan Owiny and rested Nafion Alionzi who has been in charge since Mathias Muwanga got an injury.

Elkanah Nkuggwa also returned to the first team while Ronald Kigongo and Hood Mulikyi warmed the bench.

Jangombe will play group B winners Azam FC while eternal rivals Yanga and Simba face off in a mouthwatering clash.

Simba topped group B after defeating Jangombe Boys 2-0, goals courtesy of Laudit Mavugo’s brace in the 11th and 53rd minutes.
