Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President, Eng Moses Magogo has stated that Ugandan football is at take-off phase and is set to reach greater heights.
Magogo made the comment on Wednesday while revealing the federation’s targets for 2017 in his end of year of speech at FUFA headquarters in Mengo, Kampala.
“If it were an aircraft, we have delivered Uganda to the runway ready to take off,” he stated.
“The commercial viability of FUFA today as obtained from the sporting results, marketing, approach, governance, structures, strategic planning and togetherness can now generate the resources required to undertake long term development that will sustain Uganda’s football at the highest level,” he added.
While Magogo thinks 2016 has been a golden year for Ugandan football including the cranes qualifying for African cup of Nations after 38years, he equally thinks more can be done in the coming years to improve and consolidate the achievements attained.
“There has been series of achievements in the year 2016 but this is just the start of reaping what we have been sowing since August 2013,” Magogo stated.
Magogo highlights the federation’s target in nine key factors looking different aspects including administration, Branding, capacity building among others.
Key among them is implementation of the Fufa 5-year strategic plan to detail.
The strategic plan runs from 2017-2022 looking at eight areas that include governance, technical development, market and communication, administration, national teams, infrastructure, membership and competitions.
The other targets that Magogo set include consolidation of the strategic plan, project Cameroon 2019, New sports law, FUFA elections among others.
