Joint Security Raid Nakasero Mosque

A joint security operation led by Police on Tuesday morning raided and besieged Nakasero Mosque which is also the headquarters of the feared Tabliq sect.

According to sources, officers from Counter Terrorism, Flying Squad, Field Unit, Internal Security Organization and others stormed the facility at 3am and started by arresting the security guards manning the place before forcing their way into the offices inside.

25 people were allegedly found inside the Mosque at the time of the operation and were all arrested and taken to a yet to be established location.

“They invaded the Masjid (Mosque) at night and ruined everything inside. Our askaris were brutally arrested,” a source who is a member of the Mosque told this reporter.

“25 worshippers found inside were taken to where we don’t know and no explanation was given.”

The security agents also allegedly took all the documents and computers found at the Mosque.

Our several phone calls to police Spokesman Felix Kaweesi were not picked and the force is yet to comment on the new development.

Several Tabliq sect leaders including Sheikh Yunus Kamoga are already in prison facing charges related to the assassination of Muslim clerics in the country
