Kigezi tycoon and self professed King Caesar Augustus Mulenga has been appointed by the Vietnam government as its Honorary Consular in Uganda.

The appointment of King Mulenga was confirmed by Vietnam’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Sanh Chau who is also the Special Representative of the Prime Minister for UNESCO.

Mr Chau last week visited Uganda ahead of the official opening of the Vietnam consulate in Uganda.

“I have the pleasure to welcome King Caesar Augustus and his wife and on behalf of my government and my people and would like to present to them a token of appreciation to show how the people of Vietnam are blessed to have them as their honorary consular,” said Chau.

“We are sure they will represent very well the mission of Vietnam; the people, the culture and the country of Vietnam to Uganda, and will have Uganda’s business people and other African people visit Vietnam.”

According to Chau, the opening of the consulate in Uganda will help boost relations between the two countries.

On his part, the Kisoro born tycoon said it was a great privilege that the people of Vietnam put their trust in him.

He promised build the relations between the two countries and also encourage investors to come and invest in Uganda.

Mulenga placed himself on a collision course with government, the local Christian Church and a section of residents when he declared himself King of his own “Mulenga Deployment Kingdom,” which he said encompassed a number of districts in western Uganda.

He proceeded to appoint officials that would help expand his kingdom, whose only goal he said was to promote income generation amongst local people.
