Only a day after being read charges that range from Treason to Terrorism, Rwenzururu King, Charles Wesley Mumbere has filed an application in Jinja High court seeking to be released on bail, pending his trial in the charges arising from clashes in Kasese between March and late November this year.
Mumbere filed the application through his lawyers from Alaka & Co Advocates and Ochieng Associates Advocates.
In his application, the king points out that it is his constitutional right as any innocent Ugandan to apply for bail and assures court that he will not interfere with investigations.
Mumbere further added that he has substantial sureties who are willing stand for him, he has got fixed places of abode at Muyenga Cell, Nyakabingo II in Kasese and in Makindye, Kampala
The king was yesterday remanded back to Luzira together with 150 of his royal guards by the Jinja Chief Magistrates Court after being read the charges.
