Police in Kasese has arrested the father of Kenyan based Ugandan Journalist, Joy Doreen Biira, Chimp Corps report.
The news was revealed by Biira through a post on social media on Tuesday afternoon.
“Receiving reports of my Dad being detained. Reasons not yet confirmed I Pray he’s just being asked to write a statement or answer to a few questions, that would be okay. Hope it’s nothing serious,” she posted on social media.
Police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi denied knowledge of this development asking time to confirm first.
“I am in a meeting. I will need to consult and get back to you,” he told ChimpReports on phone.
Mrs Biira who was recently arrested for breaking the news of the November 27 attack at the palace of the Rwenzururu King, Charles Wesley Mumbere; says her father was later on released unconditionally.
“Dad is okay and a free man. He was only asked a few questions – like I said earlier it’s nothing to worry about,” she said.
It is however still elusive why Dr. Baluku had been arrested.
