The Minister of Kampala Beti Kamya has praised Kampala International University as one of the producers of the best medical students in the country.
The minister also hailed KIU’s recent arrangement with at least four government hospitals that include regional referral hospitals of Hoima, Mubende and Fort Portal where they are posting medical specialists.
“This support from KIU has significantly improved health service delivery in these hospitals in addition to creating suitable environment to the clinical practice teaching sites for medical students” she said.
Hon Kamya made the remarks as guest of honor on Saturday at the 15th graduation ceremony of Kampala International University at their main campus where 1719 students graduated with PhDs, Masters, Bachelor Degrees and Diplomas.
KIU has three campuses; the Kampala Campus, Western Campus and Dream Line Campus (Nairobi) all of which converged in Kampala for the graduation.
86 percent of the graduates were Ugandans and the 14 percent international students. The male students made 63percent while the female made only 37 percent.
Hajji Hassan Bassajjabalaba the chairman board of trustees KIU revealed that as a university they have not received any complaints from the government in regard to incompetence which shows that they are doing their work well.
“I encourage government and private bodies to come and report to us in case of any incompetence among our students but so far, we are happy to report that we have not received any reports of that kind,” He said.
