Farouk Miya’s stellar form in the national colours continued to spark as he scored a spectacular 18th minute goal against Congo Brazaville to send Uganda top of the 2018 World cup group E qualifier.
Miya picked a pass in a quick counter attack that found Congo players unaware and rushed towards the box with Massa, Luwagga and Oloya all adding numbers towards the box.
The striker opted to dummy one defender before slotting past an advancing Wolfrigon Mongondza in Congo goal.
The Cranes nearly doubled the lead with two unsuccessful counters minutes later but Luwagga went for personal glory blasting the ball wide with Miya and Massa both unmarked in scoring positions.
The victory sends the Cranes top of the group with four points a day before Egypt Host Ghana in Alexandria in the other group clash.
“What is important is the three points we have picked today because it gives us advantage,” Coach Micho said.
“My players have performed well though we were forced to make changes due to injury and not tactics.”
Miya has now scored four goals in four world cup qualifiers’ games.
Cranes next assignment is the 2017 Africa cup of nations in Gabon.
