2018 World cup qualifiers (Half Time)
Uganda 1-0 Congo Brazzaville
Uganda cranes had a brilliant start against Congo Brazzaville in the 2018 world cup qualifier game played at Mandela national stadium on Saturday.
Sensational forward Farouk Miya gave Uganda Cranes a deserved lead after slotting past goalkeeper Mongodza Wolfij in the 18th minute.
Uganda began explosively with Miya testing the visitor’s goalkeeper in the 3rd minute but he parried ball away for a corner.
Mawejje had a layup from Oloya two minutes later but failed to connect to it and Congo Brazzaville defenders cleared the ball.
Collision between Congolese striker Dore Fefebory and Jjuko Murushid saw the later withdrawn after sustaining an injury and was replaced by Luwagga Kizito in the 11th minute.
Miya put Uganda ahead in the 18th minute after a quick interplay between him and Luwagga before slotting past the onrushing goalkeeper.
Uganda had a chance to double the lead at the 25minute mark after a counter attack but Luwagga was selfish with Miya unmarked on the far end.
Oloya Moses too came close to scoring in the 37th minire but he failed to head home Mawejje’s cross. Congo Brazzaville were forced to make a change in added time of the first half with injured Dore Fefebory paving way for Mbossy Ganyoula
