Traffic comes at stand still as police arrests youth demonstrating for release of Dr Kizza Besigye
Work and traffic came to a standstill this morning at Clock Tower Kampala along Entebbe Road as Police led by CPS DPC Aron Baguma moved in to arrest three youths who chained themselves on light poles, supposedly in protest.
The youths held placards with writings, “Free my vote, Free Dr Besigye.” According to eyewitnesses and people working around this area, the youths were chained early in the morning by unknown new chains and padlocks; and left with the keys.
Passersby stunned by the chained youths stopped and stared at them while others took pictures with them.
At around 9.30 am police led by CPS DPC Aron Baguma arrived in the place armed with teargas and pliers which they used to cut these chains.
The youths whose names were not yet known were arrested and taken to CPS as only onlookers cheered.
