Ugandan football lovers have started thronging Mandela National stadium, Namboole for the Group D return leg match between the Cranes and Burkina Faso.
The fans who started coming as early as 2pm, many of who spoke to us said they needed to beat the evening traffic.
These, local and foreign looked colorful and pumped up, ready for the duel at the Nambole national stadium.
Some told us they also needed to pay tribute to national team’s goal keeper Abel Dhaira who succumbed to cancer on Sunday.
“I pray the team wins this game as a dedication to Dhaira who lifted the Ugandan flag high for both the national team (Cranes) and while in the various clubs he played for abroad,” said one Namukasa.
Others came to catch the “Uganda Cranes revenge” against the Burkinabes following the defeat on Saturday in Ouagadougou.
“If we beat them and go top of the table, that will be a leap closer to qualifying for next year’s Afcon finals,” John Ssenteza was hopeful.
The game will be played under the Nambole floodlights and kicks off at 7pm (EAT). Both teams are level at six points in the group.
