The Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has asked believers to emulate the life of Jesus Christ in their day to day activities so as to enter the kingdom of heaven when they die.
Dr. Lwanga made the call on Sunday during the Easter day prayers at Lubaga Cathedral and urged Christians to continue behaving well as has been the norm during the 40 days of lent period.
“There are increased spates of murders, violence and many other evil acts among our people. Jesus died and resurrected so that all this is washed away and we turn to Him. We should do good always so as we can join the kingdom of heaven,”Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga said.
“Jesus’ resurrection was a peculiar act that no one had ever done. He gave us hope that we too can join Him in heaven but we can only do this if we behave well and do what God wants us to do.”
The man of God said that despite the increase in number of believers all over the world, this has not been reflected in the good acts of the people urging people to always put God first in whatever they do.
The Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayega called for peace among Ugandans following the recently concluded February 18 elections noting that whoever is not satisfied should seek redress from courts of law other than any other illegal means.
“If we throw stones at each other we shall end up losing eyes .Following what the law says is the best thing if we are to settle our grievances. Peace is the foundation of peace and development in any country,” the Buganda premier Mayiga urged.
The State minister for primary education, John Chrysostom Muyingo said the resurrection of Jesus has come at the right time when needs to heal from the wounds of the elections.
“We need to leave the past behind for Jesus died for us all .We need to be one person and work for the wellbeing of our beloved country,”Muyingo said.
He said the country should pray for the judges in the election petition so as they are guided well before determining the outcomes because their decisions are crucial in determining the country’s future.
The prayers were attended by ministers from both the central and Buganda governments and other politicians.
