President YoweriMuseveni has warned that it is not good for members of the ruling NRM party to start fighting themselves.
Speaking during the launch of the Muyoka Sacco on Saturday afternoon, Museveni said the infighting only serves to weaken the ruling party asking those involved to stop it.
“During the bush war, we had those who were cowards and could not risk going to the frontline but we never did away with them. We took them to the kitchen so they could cook for us and help us in the war that way,” Museveni said.
“We should keep together and avoid fighting each other within the party because we are members of the same family.”
Museveni said that everyone plays a different role in the party, and that each should help the other realize the goals of the party other than the infighting which would only serve to break them apart.
The president said if members in other parties realize there is harmony within the ruling NRM party, they would easily be convinced to join them.
“We should work like a key board. For you to get good sound out of it, all the keys have to be played, but if you press only one, you will not get good music.”
He gave an example of former Prime Minister EriaKategaya who bad mouthed me and the ruling party as being old and in need to be done away with, but he later returned to the same party.
“When he said I was old and that I should go, I never talked ill about him. He eventually returned to the NRM,” Museveni said.
The warning by the president followed reports by Muyoka Sacco chairperson Rose Kafeero who reported that he was being witch-hunted by Bodaboda 2010 boss and Lubaga division NRM chairperson AbdallaKitatta.
